Melissa DiMonte has worked at LIU Environmental since its inception. She currently underwrites for its Environmental business out of the Boston office.
Why LIU?
“When I started at LIU it was a start-up. I found it interesting and challenging to be in such a fast-paced operation. We have grown by leaps and bounds, yet that entrepreneurial spirit and independence remain.”
Why Environmental?
“Environmental coverage is not a “one size fits all” line of business. You need the flexibility to tailor coverage for each individual insured. Learning the many nuances of each product can be challenging, but that is also what makes this line interesting.”
The rewards of Underwriting?
“You’re using your mind, there’s a lot of analysis. But that’s only part of it. You’re also out there building relationships and telling the LIU story. No two days are ever the same.”

“We monitor the industry and market cycles, and set goals accordingly. We’re not going to grow for growth’s sake. We make smart underwriting decisions and have realistic expectations.”
