Tommy T. Laurendine, P.E. Vice President, Risk Engineering U.S. E&P
When it comes to risk assessment in the offshore energy field, Tommy Laurendine – a professional civil engineer with a master’s degree in structural engineering – is an undeniable expert. Before joining LIU in 2006, he spent 25 years designing and analyzing offshore structures for major oil companies and independents. “My work has encompassed everything from shallow water timber structures to 1000’ water depth steel jackets,” he says. “As my experience grew, I shifted from design and construction into research and risk engineering. During my 10 years at the U.S. Minerals Management Service (MMS), I oversaw all structuring permitting for offshore installations in U.S. federal waters on the Outer Continental Shelf.” Now responsible for all of LIU’s U.S. E&P risk engineering activities, Laurendine is an invaluable asset to LIU’s clients. “I understand the reliability and associated risk issues of any offshore structural situation,” he explains. “Our customers can depend on LIU to provide an accurate, systematic, and comprehensive evaluation – and to help them develop the right safeguards for their needs.”
